SELF-CARE

Know, then do.

What is "self-care?" In short, it's doing the things that make your soul sing! For some, this means bringing joy into your life through time with friends or an outing in nature. For others, it may mean curling up with a good book and some much needed quite and solitude. We are each unique in what fills our tank, but the same in that we all need to be refueled in order to function properly.

Activities that help our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health, or any combination of these, qualify as self-care. What's key is that we are self-aware enough to know what we need and that we give ourselves the gift of actually doing those things.

Self-care is a form of self-love. Self-love helps us treat ourselves with kindness and compassion--which is necessary before we can do the same for others. It is a powerful tool for enabling acceptance and inner peace. It's also a priceless lesson we can teach our children by example--that they are valuable entities who must sometimes put themselves first in order to enjoy life fully and in good health.
